A coordinated narcotics investigation in Effingham County has led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man following the discovery of a suspected drug manufacturing operation inside a local residence.
Law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a home on South Willow Street, where they detained Allen G. Matlock on multiple drug-related charges. The operation was the result of a joint investigation targeting suspected drug distribution activity in the area.
During the search, authorities reported finding a significant quantity of crystal methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and what investigators described as a DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) extraction laboratory. Officers also seized a large amount of DMT along with additional controlled substances.
Investigators stated that they recovered materials and items believed to be consistent with the production and distribution of illegal narcotics, indicating a broader operation beyond simple possession.
Matlock now faces several charges, including:
- Delivery of methamphetamine
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Delivery of a controlled substance
- Manufacture of a controlled substance
- Possession of a controlled substance
He remains in custody at the Effingham County Jail pending a pretrial detention hearing and formal court proceedings.
