Genoa, New York: A narcotics investigation in Cayuga County led to the arrest of two Genoa residents after authorities uncovered drugs, firearms and cash inside a local home earlier this week.
Law enforcement officials said the raid took place Tuesday at a residence in Genoa. The operation was carried out following an investigation into suspected illegal drug sales activity at the property.
During the search, investigators reported seizing more than eight ounces of methamphetamine along with 4.8 grams of crack cocaine. Officers also recovered packaging materials commonly associated with drug distribution, a quantity of U.S. currency believed to be linked to sales, and multiple high-caliber rifles. Ammunition and high-capacity magazines were also found inside the home.
Chad M. Bower, 44, and Apryl J. Chiszar, 41, both residents of Genoa, were taken into custody. Authorities allege the residence was being used as part of an ongoing drug distribution operation.
Both individuals face felony charges, including:
- Second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
Due to a prior felony conviction, Bower was additionally charged with three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Court records indicate Bower previously faced charges in 2009 related to controlled substances and unlawful methamphetamine manufacturing following searches of properties in the same area.
Following their arrest, both suspects were transported to the Cayuga County Jail, where they are being held pending further legal proceedings and court appearances.
Authorities say the investigation remains active, and additional charges could follow as the case develops.
