Robeson County, NC: A 35-year-old Lumberton resident has been arrested following a drug investigation that led authorities to execute a search warrant at a home on Seventh Street Road.
Russell J. Barnes is facing a series of felony charges stemming from the investigation. According to officials, the charges include trafficking fentanyl, manufacturing fentanyl, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver fentanyl, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances.
In addition, Barnes has been charged with altering, stealing, or destroying criminal evidence, exposing a child to a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Law enforcement officers from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit carried out the search on Wednesday as part of an ongoing effort to address illegal narcotics activity in the area.
Barnes is currently being held at the Robeson County Detention Center under a secured bond set at $500,000. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details at this time.
