A major drug bust in Dothan has led to the arrest of two local men after police uncovered a large stash of fentanyl—one of the most dangerous drugs currently circulating in communities.

According to officials, the operation was carried out by the Narcotics Division of the Dothan Police Department, following a targeted investigation into rising fentanyl distribution in the area.

Massive Drug Seizure During Search Operation

While executing a search warrant, officers discovered a shocking amount of illegal materials, including:

  • An electronic money counter
  • $9,166 in cash
  • Packaging materials used for drug distribution
  • Two firearms
  • Around 11,000 fentanyl pills
  • Approximately 129 grams of fentanyl powder

Authorities estimate the total street value of the seized drugs to be close to $250,000, highlighting the scale of the operation.

Two Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges

Police have charged two individuals in connection with the case:

  • Roland Whitefield (22)
  • Dewayne Chambers (53)

Both are now facing serious charges related to drug trafficking.

Growing Threat of Fentanyl in the Community

Police officials have raised concerns over the increasing presence of fentanyl and fentanyl-laced substances in the region. According to Police Chief William E. Benny, this bust is part of a broader effort to crack down on dangerous drug networks.

He emphasized that removing such a large quantity of fentanyl from circulation could potentially save lives, as even small amounts of the drug can be lethal.

Ongoing Efforts to Combat Drug Distribution

The department continues to focus on identifying and dismantling drug supply chains operating within the city. Investigations like this are part of a larger strategy to prevent harmful substances from reaching the streets and endangering residents.

Conclusion

This significant seizure marks a major step in addressing the growing fentanyl crisis in Dothan. With thousands of pills and large quantities of powder taken off the streets, authorities believe this operation has disrupted a major supply source and reduced potential harm to the community.
