Major Drug Bust in Evergreen Leads to Two Arrests — What Police Found Inside

A routine investigation by Evergreen police turned into a major drug bust earlier this month, resulting in two arrests and the seizure of multiple controlled substances from a local residence.

According to the Evergreen Police Department, officers from the Narcotics Division, along with Investigations and Patrol units, executed a search warrant on April 2 at a home located on Wild Avenue. What they found inside highlighted the scale of the operation.

Authorities reported recovering a significant quantity of illegal drugs, including cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and a mixture containing fentanyl and methamphetamine. Investigators also seized MDMA pills, THC vape pens, and other unidentified substances believed to be synthetic “chem.” Edible products suspected of containing similar substances were also found.

In addition to drugs, officers recovered a 9mm Taurus handgun, a digital scale commonly associated with drug distribution, and $698 in cash.

Two individuals were taken into custody following the search. Joe Nathan Rankins, 40, faces multiple serious charges, including drug trafficking, possession with intent to distribute, and unlawful possession of controlled substances. He is also charged with attempting to evade law enforcement and chemical endangerment of a child.

Candace Patrice Crosby, 37, was also arrested and charged with chemical endangerment of a child.

Police have not released further details about the child involved but confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to process evidence from the scene.
