Granville Man Arrested After Knife-Point Bank Robbery, Faces Federal Charges

A quiet Monday afternoon in Granville was disrupted after a reported bank robbery led to a swift multi-agency response and the arrest of a local resident.

According to authorities, officers were called to Granville National Bank just after 3 p.m. following reports of a robbery in progress. Police say a suspect entered the bank, displayed a knife, and demanded money from tellers before fleeing the scene with cash.

No injuries were reported, but the incident left staff and customers shaken.

Granville Police Chief Michael Padilla confirmed that investigators quickly gathered evidence at the scene, which helped identify the suspect. With coordinated efforts from multiple agencies—including the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Police, and nearby local departments—58-year-old David Ragazincky was located and taken into custody.

Authorities have since transferred the case to the Federal Bureau of Investigation due to the nature of the crime. Ragazincky is now facing federal bank robbery charges.

Officials emphasized that the rapid arrest was made possible through strong inter-agency collaboration and timely response.

The investigation remains ongoing as federal authorities prepare to proceed with the case.
