Fabens Woman Arrested After Alleged Vehicle Theft, Sheriff’s Office Says

A 35-year-old Fabens resident has been taken into custody following a reported vehicle theft early Friday morning, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities identified the suspect as Maria Conchita Rios, who was arrested on April 10 and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Deputies responded around 2:45 a.m. to the 12500 block of Alameda Avenue after receiving a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim told officers that a friend had taken the car without permission. Investigators later identified Rios as the suspect and secured an arrest warrant.

Later that afternoon, around 4:45 p.m., deputies located the stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Alameda Avenue. A felony stop was conducted near the 400 block of West Main Street, where the vehicle was safely recovered and returned to its owner.

Approximately an hour after recovering the vehicle, deputies were again dispatched to the same area for a report of criminal mischief. Upon arrival, officers located Rios and took her into custody without incident.

Officials also noted that Rios had previously been linked to a separate case in November 2025, where she was identified as a getaway driver in connection with a “most wanted subject,” though no additional details were released.

Rios was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility as the investigation continues.
