I-30 Traffic Stop Uncovers Multi-State Pharmacy Burglary Ring; 3 Texas Men Plead Guilty

A routine traffic stop along Interstate 30 has led to major convictions in a multi-state pharmacy burglary case involving three Texas men who admitted stealing thousands of controlled substances across Missouri and Kansas.

According to federal prosecutors, Erik Dewayne Lyons Jr., 21, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis on Thursday. His co-defendants, Jonathan Fore, 30, and Anthony Ray Venwright, 33, had already entered guilty pleas on March 30. All three admitted to conspiracy and breaking into pharmacies to steal controlled substances.

Investigators say the group traveled from Houston to Lee’s Summit in July 2025. While Lyons acted as a lookout in a rented Toyota RAV4, the other two carried out break-ins at pharmacies in Lee’s Summit, Overland Park, and Maryland Heights.

The case took a decisive turn when law enforcement tracked the suspect vehicle into Arkansas. A coordinated stop by Arkansas State Police uncovered stolen drugs and key evidence linking the trio to all three burglaries. Authorities later confirmed the theft of over 25,000 doses of painkillers and other controlled substances.

Sentencing dates have been scheduled, with Lyons set for July 13, and the other two defendants on July 6. Each charge carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

The investigation involved multiple agencies across state lines, highlighting how coordinated policing can disrupt organized drug-related crimes.
