Waco, Texas — A disturbing domestic violence incident in Waco has led to the arrest of a 40-year-old man after police say he strangled his pregnant wife during an argument, with their young child present inside the home.
According to authorities, the incident took place Monday morning at a residence on Misty Drive. Officers from the Waco Police Department responded after receiving a distressing 911 call from the victim, who reportedly said she could not handle the situation any longer.
What Happened
When officers arrived, the accused, identified as Jacob Daniel Vega, approached them and admitted that he had been involved in a physical altercation with his wife.
Police say the argument began after Vega locked himself in a bedroom while his wife repeatedly knocked on the door. He later told officers he became angry, came out, and moved furniture into another room. The situation quickly escalated.
According to the arrest report, Vega admitted he “lost control” during the argument. He allegedly restrained his wife by sitting on top of her and used both hands to strangle her.

Officers found the victim sitting on the floor with the couple’s child nearby. She complained of numbness in her legs and pain in her throat. Visible injuries included redness around her neck and burst blood vessels in her eyes — signs commonly associated with strangulation.

Authorities confirmed that the victim was around seven weeks pregnant at the time of the incident. She was transported to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.
