Three people were injured Monday afternoon after a tree suddenly fell at an elementary school in Melrose, Massachusetts — and two of those hurt were children.
The incident happened outside Winthrop Elementary School. Melrose fire officials confirmed that two children and one adult were taken for treatment following the collapse.
Aerial footage captured the aftermath: a large tree down on the school’s playground area, with first responders gathered in the parking lot as police tape blocked off the scene.
It is not yet clear how severely the victims were injured or what caused the tree to fall. Authorities have not released the names or ages of those involved.
This is a developing story. Additional details are expected to be released as the investigation continues.
