A young man from Almond lost his life Saturday morning after a two-vehicle crash in Portage County — and investigators say it may have been entirely preventable.
What Happened?
On May 3, at around 10:24 a.m., a motorcycle and pickup truck collided at the intersection of County Trunk BB and Bluff Road in Buena Vista Township.
The victim, 24-year-old Willard Nyquist of Almond, was pronounced dead at the scene.
How Did It Happen?
According to the investigation, Cynthia Baehman of Oshkosh was driving a pickup truck westbound on County Trunk N when she failed to stop at a stop sign.
Her truck then struck Nyquist, who was traveling southbound on his motorcycle on County Trunk BB.
Current Status
The crash remains under active investigation by Portage County authorities. No charges have been announced at this time.
A Life Cut Short
Willard Nyquist was just 24 years old. The Almond community is mourning the loss of a young resident whose life ended far too soon on a Saturday morning.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the investigation.
