MAINE TOWNSHIP, Ill. — Cook County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a body was discovered Monday morning in a pond near an Illinois State Police facility in unincorporated Maine Township.
Deputies received reports of a body in the water at approximately 10:50 a.m. Monday. The body was located in a pond east of the intersection of Linda and Holly Lanes — just south of an Illinois State Police building in the area.
Responding deputies were able to pull the body of a deceased male from the pond. The individual was transported to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, where officials are working to identify him.
As of Monday, there was no immediate evidence of foul play, according to authorities. No further information was made available.
The investigation remains ongoing.
