Mom Said She Sold Her Disabled Son at a Grocery Store. Now Remains Are Found in the Backyard.

It is one of the most disturbing missing child cases in Texas history. Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, a 6-year-old disabled boy from Everman, Texas, vanished in fall 2022. His mother told authorities she had sold him to another woman at a Fiesta grocery store.

Authorities never believed her. Now, they may have found the truth buried in a backyard.

What was found

This week, police and FBI excavated the backyard of the home on Wisteria Lane where Noel lived with his mother, Cindy Rodriguez-Singh. On Thursday, human remains were confirmed at the property. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner is now working to identify them.

A mother who ran

Rodriguez-Singh was charged with capital murder of a child in October 2023. But she had already fled — leaving for India two days before an Amber Alert was issued, taking six other children with her.

In 2025 she was placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list. She was captured within weeks. A psychiatric evaluation in 2026 found her incompetent to stand trial, but prosecutors are pushing for that ruling to be reversed.
