A Florida mother told police she barely drank — but her son’s tearful 911 call told a very different story.
A terrified boy dialed 911 in the middle of the night, crying and begging for help — all because of his own mother.
Katina Yvette Graham, 52, was behind the wheel in Orlando, Florida, when she allegedly sped down the highway, hit a curb, blew out her tires, and crashed — with her young son in the passenger seat.
“My mom… she almost hit a car, she was going over 100 on the highway. I need help.”
That’s what the boy told a 911 dispatcher in a call obtained by local media, just after midnight on April 27. His voice cracked as he gave their location. He was clearly crying.
When officers arrived, Graham allegedly told them she had only consumed “half a shot of whatever” at a party. But investigators said the signs told a different story — she smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, and failed every field sobriety test.
Police say Graham had left her son alone in the car for nearly two hours while she was inside a party drinking.
In a bizarre moment during questioning, Graham reportedly kept interrupting the officer and insisted multiple times that “officers are not artificial intelligence.”
Charges Filed
- Felony third-degree child abuse
- Misdemeanor DUI while accompanied by a minor
Graham has pleaded not guilty. She is no longer listed as an inmate at Orange County Jail, and no future court date has been set. The Orlando Police Department has not yet responded to media requests for comment.
