Waco, Texas: A 20-year-old woman in Waco is facing a felony charge after police say she assaulted another person while holding her infant child during an altercation.
According to the Waco Police Department, the incident led to the arrest of Ciara Flores on charges of abandoning or endangering a child, which is classified as a state jail felony under Texas law.
Investigators said an eyewitness reported seeing Flores actively involved in the assault while carrying her young daughter in her arms. The witness became concerned that the child was in immediate danger of being hurt during the confrontation.
Court documents state that the witness stepped in and removed the baby from Flores’ arms in an effort to protect the child from possible bodily injury.
Police later took Flores into custody following the incident. She is currently being held at the McLennan County Jail, where her bond has been set at $3,000.
Authorities have not released additional details about the altercation, including where or when it occurred or whether anyone else was injured.
The investigation remains ongoing.
