A 4-year-old child died after being left inside a vehicle in the Valley Village neighborhood of Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers and firefighters responded to the area near Magnolia Boulevard and McCormick Street around 3:30 p.m. following a medical emergency call. When they arrived, the young child was found unresponsive inside a parked car.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It’s just very sad. No one should ever go through something like this,” said attorney Lou Shapiro, who is representing the child’s family.

“ACS, Abused Child Section, is now investigating the possible homicide at this point,” Capt. Castillo said.
