Albany Police Officer and Civilian Injured in Intersection Crash Near Albany State University

Albany, Georgia: A crash involving an Albany Police Department officer and another driver resulted in two people being hospitalized Tuesday afternoon near Albany State University’s East Campus.

The collision occurred on March 17 at the intersection of Radium Springs Road and Billy Black Drive. Authorities reported that Officer Jade Jackson was driving a 2018 Ford Taurus Police vehicle southbound on Radium Springs Road at the time of the incident.

According to officials, Jahziyah D. Johnson was traveling eastbound on Billy Black Drive in a 2007 Hyundai. The crash happened when Johnson entered the intersection as Officer Jackson proceeded through, leading to the police vehicle striking the Hyundai.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the impact. Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported to Phoebe Putney Hospital for medical treatment. Their current conditions have not been publicly released.

The Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation into the crash to determine contributing factors and whether any traffic violations occurred.

Authorities have not announced any charges as the investigation remains ongoing.
