Amazon Driver Walked Into a Home — What He Found Inside Will Shock You

An Amazon delivery driver made a routine stop at a home in Wyoming, Minnesota — but what he walked into was anything but routine. He ended up saving a woman’s life.

James Alan Johnson, 72, is now behind bars, charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a dangerous weapon, according to the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office.

What happened on May 11

Police say Johnson had been planning to kill his wife for several days. On May 11, the day he allegedly carried out the attack, an Amazon package was also scheduled to arrive at their home on Heims Lake Circle — about 30 miles northwest of Minneapolis.

The delivery driver heard frantic screaming and saw a woman with blood on her hands and a man holding a hammer. Instead of leaving, he went inside, shouted at Johnson to drop the hammer, and called 911.

Police arrived to find the front door wide open and the victim lying on the living room floor in a pool of blood, calling out for help. She had been struck twice in the head with the hammer and had injuries on her arms and hands.

She told officers she managed to fight back — kicking her husband in the groin — which gave her enough time to survive until help arrived.

Why did he do it?

Johnson reportedly told police his business was facing financial collapse. He allegedly said he did not want his wife to be left living on reduced Social Security benefits — and that is why he decided to kill her.

He is currently held in Chisago County Jail on a $1 million bond.
