A Texas woman allegedly shot her live-in boyfriend twice — once between the eyes, once in the back of the neck — during an argument. He had dared her to pull the trigger. She did.
Alanna Dawn Bilbo, 33, is now behind bars in Cherokee County, Texas, facing one count of aggravated assault. The incident happened Monday evening at a home in Alto — a small town about 26 miles west of Nacogdoches.
What happened
Deputies arrived around 7 p.m. after reports of a shooting. When detectives spoke to Bilbo, she said she and her boyfriend had been arguing about their relationship.
“[He] was standing outside in front of the stairway yelling at her to shoot him, and she shot him between the eyes with a .22 caliber revolver,” court documents state.
After the first shot, the man turned to his left while holding his face. Bilbo then allegedly fired again — hitting him in the back of the neck.
What police found
Both Bilbo and her boyfriend were allegedly using drugs at the time, according to Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson.
The shooting was initially reported as an accident. The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Tyler, where he was listed in stable condition as of Tuesday.
Where things stand
Bilbo is currently held in Cherokee County Jail on a $150,000 bond. A judge has also issued a protective order barring her from contacting the victim for three months and prohibiting her from possessing any firearms.
