Armed Robbery Reported Near University of Pittsburgh’s Oakland Campus; Investigation Ongoing

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Authorities are investigating a reported armed robbery that occurred near the University of Pittsburgh’s Oakland campus Thursday evening.

Campus police issued a crime alert stating that the incident took place shortly before 5:45 p.m. along Forbes Avenue. According to the report, a man was approached by an individual who claimed to be armed and demanded property.

The victim told officers that the suspect stated he had a gun and removed jewelry from around the victim’s neck. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported, and no weapon was visibly displayed during the encounter.

After the incident, the suspect reportedly fled on foot along Forbes Avenue in an unknown direction.

Police described the individual as heavyset, wearing a black jacket and a blue-and-white face covering at the time of the incident.

Investigators are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact University of Pittsburgh Police at 412-624-2121.

The investigation remains active as officers work to gather additional details and review any available surveillance footage from the area.
