A tragic early-morning crash in Newark has taken the life of former state assemblyman Alberto Coutinho, leaving the community in deep shock and mourning.
Authorities have arrested John M. Arango-Taborda, 27, in connection with the incident. The collision occurred around 7:30 a.m. near McCarter Highway and South Street. According to prosecutors, Arango-Taborda was allegedly driving at a high speed before the crash.
Coutinho, 56, was rushed to the hospital but sadly passed away shortly after. The accused sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
