After nearly two years of investigation, police have arrested the man accused of killing a 25-year-old Richmond resident in a daytime shooting that shook the local community.
The case dates back to April 17, 2024, when officers with the Richmond Police Department responded just after 11:30 a.m. to reports of a shooting in the 1300 block of Coalter Street.
When officers arrived, they found Robert Joseph, 25, of Richmond, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Suspect Identified Months After Shooting
In late September 2024, investigators publicly identified Davion White, then 19 years old, as a suspect in Joseph’s death. Authorities launched efforts to locate him as the homicide investigation continued.
Nearly two years after the fatal shooting, police confirmed a major breakthrough.
Arrest Announced in March 2026
On March 5, Richmond police announced that Davion White, now 20, has been taken into custody and formally charged with:
- First-degree murder
- Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
According to authorities, White had been serving time in Georgia on unrelated charges prior to being arrested in connection with the Richmond homicide.
