AUBURN, Maine — A late-night police operation at a local hotel has resulted in serious drug trafficking charges against two individuals from Lewiston, following a coordinated investigation by authorities in Auburn.
According to the Auburn Police Department, officers executed a search warrant at the Quality Inn around 3:05 a.m. on Saturday. The action followed a traffic stop the previous evening that uncovered information related to interstate drug trafficking.
During the search, police recovered approximately 15 grams of suspected cocaine, fentanyl pills, and more than $5,000 believed to be proceeds from drug sales. Investigators say the drugs were transported from Connecticut and intended for distribution in the Lewiston-Auburn area.
Authorities arrested 33-year-old Mantrell Tidwell, charging him with unlawful trafficking of cocaine and fentanyl, along with falsifying physical evidence. His bail has been set at $10,000. Also arrested was 22-year-old Anita Tanis, who faces charges of unlawful trafficking of both cocaine and fentanyl, with bail set at $7,500.
The operation was supported by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, which assisted in executing the warrant.
Police confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing, indicating the possibility of further developments as authorities continue to track the source and distribution network of the drugs.
