A chaotic school fight ended with two students in handcuffs — and now the body camera footage is raising serious questions.
What Happebned?
Fairfield Police responded to Fairfield High School just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after a fight broke out involving multiple students. Officers said one student attacked a school official who was trying to break up the brawl.
During the chaos, an officer spotted a student reaching into a backpack — fearing a weapon, he confiscated two bags. Sharp objects, including a screwdriver, were found inside.
It Escalated Quickly
A second student refused to cooperate with officers and ran back into the crowd, where more fights were happening. When an officer tried to detain him, the student struck the officer.
Officers took the student to the ground after he continued resisting. When he covered his face and refused to put his hands behind his back, an officer delivered what police called “distraction strikes” — hitting the student’s hands until he complied.
Both students were arrested. Neither student nor any officer was reported injured.
Community Reacts
Not everyone is satisfied with how it was handled.
“That officer needs to be investigated, the school needs to be investigated,” said Anhloc Harris, a family friend who came to the school to protest.
The Fairfield Suisun Unified School District confirmed both the police department and school administration have launched separate investigations.
What’s Next?
Police say they released the body camera footage in the interest of transparency. The two students, whose names were not released, face charges of causing a disturbance on school campus and resisting arrest.
The investigation is ongoing.
