Explosion at Arden-Arcade Apartment Injures Woman, Investigation Underway

Emergency crews are investigating an evening explosion that left a woman seriously injured at an apartment complex in Sacramento County’s Arden-Arcade neighborhood.

Fire officials said units were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. to an apartment community near Howe Avenue, just north of Fair Oaks Boulevard, following reports of a possible commercial fire and an injury that was initially suspected to be related to fireworks.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a woman inside one of the units suffering from a significant hand injury caused by an explosion. Authorities later confirmed that fireworks were not involved in the incident. Fortunately, no active fire broke out after the blast.

The injured woman received immediate medical attention at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital. Officials described her condition as moderate to severe, though the full extent of her injuries has not yet been disclosed.

An infant present in the apartment was also taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

The explosion caused noticeable structural damage within the unit, including broken windows and damage to the ceiling and kitchen cabinets. Investigators are continuing to examine the scene to determine what triggered the blast.
