Five Arrested in Coordinated Drug Crackdown Across Cairo Area

CAIRO, Ga. – A coordinated enforcement effort involving patrol deputies, a K-9 team, and narcotics investigators has resulted in multiple drug-related arrests in and around Cairo, according to local authorities.

Officials confirmed that five individuals were taken into custody during a series of separate operations targeting illegal drug activity in the community.

Alfredo Zuniga was arrested at a residence on 10th Avenue NE after law enforcement officers carried out a search warrant. He faces a charge of cocaine trafficking. During the operation, investigators seized several vehicles along with a quantity of U.S. currency believed to be connected to the alleged activity.

In a separate incident, Ladarius Deshawn Edwards was arrested following a traffic stop on Calvary Road conducted by a K-9 unit. Authorities reported that crack cocaine and cash were recovered. Edwards has been charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

Another arrest occurred on 1st Avenue NE, where Lamar Thomas was stopped in a joint operation involving the Georgia State Patrol and local deputies. Thomas faces multiple charges, including possession of cocaine, possession of Alpha-PVP, possession of MDMA, driving under the influence, and possession of an open container.

Randy Walker was taken into custody after a K-9-assisted traffic stop south of Cairo on Highway 111. He has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

In a separate traffic stop on Highway 84 east of Cairo, Jimmy Martin of Thomas County was arrested on charges including possession of methamphetamine, violation of the Move Over Law, driving with a suspended registration, and operating a vehicle without insurance. Authorities also identified Martin as a wanted sex offender out of Florida at the time of his arrest.

Law enforcement officials stated that proactive patrols and targeted drug enforcement operations will continue as part of ongoing efforts to address illegal narcotics activity in the area.
