Florida Woman Burned Down Boyfriend's House After He Stole From Her, Police Say

A 55-year-old Florida woman allegedly set fire to her boyfriend’s home in Clearwater after claiming he stole from her — and she had reportedly warned about it on Facebook Live before doing it.

What Happened?

Clearwater Fire and Rescue responded around 8 p.m. on March 23 to a fire at a home on Devon Drive. The fire started in a shed outside the house. Crews were able to limit damage to the main residence.

The Facebook Live Warning

Before the fire, Heather Jo England allegedly went on Facebook Live and threatened to burn the house down. An anonymous tip led police to the video, which became key evidence in the investigation.

How Police Caught Her

  • Surveillance footage allegedly captured her car leaving the scene moments before the fire started
  • A witness at a dog park told police England admitted to setting the fire
  • England later admitted to using a propane torch to set fire to a camping cot inside the shed

The Charges

England now faces a charge of first-degree arson. She was arrested Thursday and booked into Pinellas County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

One More Detail

The home actually belonged to the boyfriend’s grandmother — he only occasionally slept in the shed that was set on fire.

Her next court date has not yet been scheduled.
