A powerful fire tore through part of Southwest Baltimore on Thursday evening, drawing a major emergency response and sending thick smoke across multiple neighborhoods.
Fire crews were dispatched around 6:37 p.m. to the 2200 block of Langley Street, near Morrell Park, after reports of a rapidly spreading blaze. Witnesses reported seeing a large plume of smoke rising high above the area, visible from several surrounding communities.
According to fire officials, the flames originated outdoors before spreading to a nearby two-story structure. Authorities indicated that gasoline and propane materials played a role in fueling the fire, intensifying the situation and prompting additional precautions.
Firefighters worked swiftly to contain the blaze and prevent further damage. The fire was eventually brought under control, and officials confirmed that no injuries were reported.
Due to the involvement of potentially hazardous materials, the Maryland Department of the Environment responded to assist at the scene and evaluate any environmental risks.
Investigators are now working to determine the exact cause of the incident. Further details are expected as the investigation continues.
