Authorities say the victim, Renesmay Eutsey, suffered prolonged abuse before her death. Her body was discovered inside a bag placed in a tote along the Youghiogheny River, intensifying scrutiny over the conditions she endured in the months leading up to her death.

The investigation began on September 3, 2025, when the child was reported missing. Responding officers from the Pennsylvania State Police arrived at the home where she lived with her foster parents.
During the initial search, a young sibling reportedly approached officers and shared alarming details, stating that the child had been harmed and would not return. According to investigators, the sibling described hearing the victim crying and seeing adults physically assault her.
