Green Bay, WI – Drivers across northeast Wisconsin should stay alert today as sudden bursts of snow are expected to create quick, hazardous travel conditions throughout the day.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, scattered snow showers will begin late this morning and continue off and on into the evening. While snowfall may not be constant, heavier bursts could quickly reduce visibility to around one mile and lightly cover roadways.
Cities including Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, and Manitowoc are likely to see changing conditions, especially along busy routes like I-41 and Highway 172. Northern areas such as Rhinelander and Land O’ Lakes could experience slightly higher impacts, with localized snowfall nearing one inch.
Gusty northwest winds may worsen conditions by blowing snow across roads, causing sudden drops in visibility. These fast-changing conditions could make the afternoon commute particularly challenging.
Officials are urging residents to slow down, keep a safe following distance, and remain cautious during any snow bursts. Even after snowfall tapers off later tonight, slick spots may remain as temperatures stay close to freezing.
Staying prepared and adjusting driving habits can help reduce risks during these brief but impactful weather changes.
