He Pleaded Guilty — But Two Others Are Still Out There. What We Know About the Murder of Toledo Teen Darius Washington

One man has been convicted — but the case is far from over. Two more suspects still face charges in the killing of 17-year-old Darius Washington.

A Toledo man has been found guilty in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old boy — but his sentencing hasn’t happened yet, and two co-defendants are still awaiting trial.

Robert Dorr Jr., 24, pleaded guilty on May 7 to involuntary manslaughter, robbery, and tampering with evidence. He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 19.

In the early morning hours of June 22, 2025, Toledo Police officers were called to the 5800 block of Dixon Avenue — near the intersection of Alexis and Douglas — for a report of a person shot. First responders found Washington at the scene and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

“First responders found 17-year-old Darius Washington and took him to an area hospital where he later died.”

Washington was just 17 years old.

Dorr’s conviction covers three charges: involuntary manslaughter for Washington’s death, robbery, and tampering with evidence. While his guilty plea marks the first resolution in the case, prosecutors are still pursuing charges against the two other men connected to the killing.

Gage Bearden, 19, and Pete Wheatley Jr., 19, both face charges in connection with the case. Details about their upcoming court dates have not yet been publicly released.

The sentencing of Dorr on May 19 will be the next key moment in this case. Check back for updates as it develops.
