A Missouri man who lost his wife to suicide is now behind bars — accused of using her car as a weapon of fear against the school where she worked.
Alex Reichert, 36, of St. Charles, allegedly parked his late wife Skye’s car outside St. Charles High School — and district offices — at least 15 times. He reportedly added a bumper sticker to the vehicle that read: “I’m unpredictable.”
What happened
Skye Reichert, a teacher at St. Charles High School, died by suicide in March. Her husband allegedly blamed school staff — specifically a female employee he had a personal relationship with — for her death.
Police say Reichert began stalking the school, threatening staff and students. He is charged with making a terrorist threat and stalking.
A graduation ceremony in the crosshairs
St. Charles Police Lt. Daniel Gibbons said Reichert made social media posts with “countdowns” — all pointing to the district’s graduation date. Court records allege he implied he would use guns at the ceremony.
“It’s been very scary,” one senior said. “It makes students uncomfortable.”
Prosecutors said
“The suspect has lost his job, his wife and his paramour. His behavior indicates he has nothing left to lose.”
Background
Before Skye’s death, the couple had filed a defamation lawsuit against an anonymous school staffer — alleging that person sent emails to Reichert’s employer making accusations of inappropriate behavior with children.
It is not confirmed whether that staffer is the same person Reichert is accused of threatening.
Reichert was ordered held without bond and is due in court next week. St. Charles High School is located roughly 25 miles from St. Louis.
