Louisa County Sheriff Searching for Suspect After Attempted Armed Robbery at Mineral Gas Station

Louisa County, Virginia Authorities in Louisa County are actively searching for a suspect connected to an attempted armed robbery that occurred Saturday evening at a gas station in the town of Mineral.

Incident Details

According to the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, at the Mineral Express Lane Exxon, located along Mineral Avenue.

Investigators say a man entered the gas station and demanded money from the cash register while displaying what appeared to be a handgun. Deputies noted that the weapon looked like a real firearm, prompting the situation to be treated as an armed robbery attempt.

Suspect Flees Without Money

Officials said the robbery was interrupted when another customer entered the store during the encounter. At that point, the suspect exited the business without obtaining any money and fled the scene.

The suspect is described as an older Black man. No further physical description has been released at this time.

Getaway Vehicle Information

The sheriff’s office reported that the suspect drove away in a silver early-2000s Lincoln Continental, traveling onto Mineral Avenue after leaving the gas station.

  • Vehicle: Silver Lincoln Continental (early 2000s model)
  • License Plate: Virginia tag VUG2365

However, further investigation revealed concerning details about the vehicle.

Stolen Vehicle Discovered

Authorities later determined that the Lincoln Continental had been previously reported stolen in 2023. Additionally, when deputies ran the license plate, it did not match the vehicle, suggesting the tag may also be stolen or unlawfully displayed.

These findings have added complexity to the investigation and may indicate the suspect’s involvement in other criminal activity.
