Milwaukee Baby Dies After Mother Allegedly Used Whiskey to Make Infant 'Pass Out,' Police Say

A 1-year-old baby in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is dead — and what police say happened inside that apartment has shocked the entire community.

What Happened?

On the afternoon of Feb. 22, police responded to a call about an unresponsive child at an apartment complex in Milwaukee. When officers arrived, the baby was already showing signs of rigor mortis and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

What Did Police Find?

The baby was found covered in urine and feces. Investigators say the infant had not been fed or had a diaper changed the entire day.

The Whiskey Allegation

The most disturbing detail came from an unlikely witness — the couple’s 6-year-old daughter.

She told detectives that the day before the baby died, she watched her mother mix a bottle for the baby that included what she called “medicine” to make the baby “pass out.” When asked to show the detective what it was, she pointed to a 50 mL bottle of Fireball whiskey.

The girl told investigators:

“I don’t think it is medicine.”

Who Are the Parents?

  • Kevin McCall, 30, and Christina Davis, 23, both of Milwaukee
  • Both charged with two counts of chronic neglect of a child
  • Both currently held at Milwaukee County Jail on $10,000 bond
  • Next court date: May 29

What Else Did Police Discover?

  • Davis admitted she and McCall left their two children home alone at least once or twice a week
  • McCall said it had happened at least 25 times in the past six to seven months
  • The 6-year-old was regularly asked to babysit the 1-year-old alone
  • While the baby was dying, McCall was fixing a video game controller

What Did the Parents Say?

Davis denied giving the baby alcohol, claiming she only gave cold and flu medication. She later told her mother from jail that her daughter’s account was “a lie.” McCall admitted he never once checked on the baby while Davis was at work.

Cause of Death Still Under Investigation

The medical examiner found no signs of trauma, illness or infection pointing to a clear cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
