Authorities in Arizona say 30-year-old Brenda Liliana Rivera Estrada has been arrested after a rollover accident on Interstate 17 that claimed the life of her daughter, Alexa Cortez Rivera. The incident occurred early Sunday morning near Peoria Avenue, where the vehicle reportedly flipped after being driven at high speed.
What Happened
According to investigators, Estrada was driving northbound on I-17 with her four children — ages 1, 3, 9, and 11 — when the crash occurred. Witnesses told officials that the vehicle was traveling above the posted speed limit and weaving through traffic before losing control.
The SUV eventually rolled over, leaving all occupants injured. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported the victims to nearby hospitals.
Tragically, 9-year-old Alexa did not survive.
