Penn Hills Mother Faces Criminal Homicide Charge After 3-Year-Old’s Death

A woman from Penn Hills has been formally charged with criminal homicide following the death of her 3-year-old son, a case that has shaken the local community.

Authorities previously charged Lagomau Malu and Adam Chirico in connection with the death of the child, identified as Devin Goodson. The young boy was found unresponsive inside the family’s home and later died at a hospital.

According to investigators from Allegheny County Police, additional review with the medical examiner and the district attorney’s office led to upgraded charges against Malu. She is now facing a criminal homicide charge.

Police stated that Malu admitted to striking the child multiple times in the head and kneeling on his chest after he wet the bed. The boy died the following day. A forensic pathologist determined that the cause of death was a head injury and officially ruled the manner of death a homicide.

Both Malu and Chirico have been denied bail and are currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail. Preliminary hearings for both defendants are scheduled later this month.

Neighbors expressed disbelief upon learning about the allegations. One resident who has lived in the area for more than two decades described the situation as deeply disturbing and said it was unlike anything she had ever witnessed in the neighborhood.

The case remains under investigation as court proceedings move forward.
