A devastating crash in Seffner, Florida, has left a community in shock after a 17-year-old lost his life in a violent chain-reaction collision, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred along State Road 574 near Chastain Road. Authorities say a Nissan Versa, driven by a 40-year-old man from Mulberry, was heading eastbound when it suddenly crossed into the opposite lane. It then collided nearly head-on with a Volkswagen Passat driven by the teenage victim from Seffner.
The impact was severe. Moments later, both vehicles came to rest on the roadway and were struck again—this time by a Ford F-150. In a troubling turn, the driver of that pickup truck fled the scene on foot and has not yet been identified.
Emergency responders rushed both drivers from the initial crash to the hospital with critical injuries. Despite efforts to save him, the 17-year-old later died from his injuries, marking a heartbreaking loss.
Investigators say the cause of the Nissan entering the wrong lane remains unclear. The identities of those involved have not yet been released as the investigation continues.
Authorities are actively searching for the third driver and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
