Crivitz, Wisconsin: A tragic crash in the Village of Crivitz has claimed the life of a 66-year-old man from Sheboygan, days after his vehicle slammed into two buildings in the early hours of April 8, authorities confirmed.
According to the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 1:37 a.m. when dispatchers received a report of a single-vehicle crash on Louisa Street. A caller informed officials that a vehicle had driven into a building, prompting an immediate emergency response.
Investigators later determined that the driver, identified as Terry A. Garbisch, was traveling eastbound on Main Avenue when he failed to navigate a turn at Louisa Street. The vehicle continued forward and crashed into two separate buildings, causing significant damage and leaving the driver critically injured.
Emergency crews quickly arrived at the scene and transported Garbisch for medical treatment. Despite efforts to save him, authorities confirmed on April 18 that he had died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Officials noted that Garbisch was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Preliminary findings also suggest that speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash, though the exact circumstances are still under review.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Crivitz Fire Department, Middle Inlet Fire Department, Crivitz Rescue, Aurora Medical Center–Bay Area EMS, and Tim Witt Chevrolet Towing, highlighting the scale and urgency of the response.
The case remains under active investigation by both the sheriff’s office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office. Authorities have not released further details but indicated that more information may be shared as the investigation progresses.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly road accidents can turn fatal, especially when safety measures like seat belt use are not followed.
