A tragic family dispute in Philadelphia has ended in a loss of life, leaving a community shaken and searching for answers.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers responded to a call around 11:34 p.m. on Saturday at a home along West Wingohocking Street. Reports indicated a person with a weapon at the location. When officers arrived, they found 61-year-old Kevin Jenkins lying on the porch with multiple stab wounds to his neck.
Emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
Authorities allege that the victim’s son, 28-year-old Devin Jenkins, was involved in a heated argument with his father shortly before the incident. Police say the confrontation escalated, leading to the fatal stabbing. Devin Jenkins was taken into custody at the scene. He was later treated at a hospital for a minor cut on his finger before being formally processed.
He now faces charges of murder and possession of an instrument of crime. Court records show he is being held without bail at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility.
Family disputes turning violent are rare but deeply distressing, often leaving lasting emotional scars on those involved. Investigators have not yet shared details about what led to the argument.
The case remains under active investigation, and Devin Jenkins is expected to appear in court again later this month.
