A 24-year-old man was injured in a shooting that led to a vehicle crash in Stockton on Sunday evening, according to local authorities.
Police were dispatched to the area of South Center Street around 6:30 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they discovered the driver had sustained a gunshot wound.
Preliminary findings indicate the victim was traveling southbound on Center Street with a 35-year-old passenger when shots were fired from another vehicle. The gunfire struck the driver, causing him to lose control and collide with another car near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Emergency responders transported the injured driver to a nearby hospital. Officials confirmed that his injuries are not considered life-threatening. The passenger was unharmed during the incident.
The suspect vehicle fled the area before officers arrived and remains outstanding. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the case.
