Pennsylvania — A bold daytime robbery in Philadelphia has left authorities searching for two armed suspects after approximately $1.8 million was stolen from an armored truck Tuesday morning. The incident unfolded in a busy commercial area, raising concerns about public safety despite no injuries being reported.
According to police, the robbery occurred around 9:45 a.m. when two men carrying assault-style rifles targeted a Brinks truck. The vehicle was reportedly servicing a financial business, identified as Budget Financial Center, at the time of the incident.
Investigators say the suspects approached the truck and carried out the robbery quickly before fleeing the scene in a blue vehicle. Witnesses described a chaotic moment, with one person recalling seeing a vehicle speeding onto the sidewalk immediately after what appeared to be a confrontation.
Police later located what they believe to be the getaway vehicle — a blue Acura SUV — which was recovered and towed for further investigation. Authorities are now examining surveillance footage from nearby businesses as part of efforts to identify the suspects.
Despite the scale of the robbery, officials confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident. However, no arrests have been made so far.
Due to the significant amount of money involved and the use of firearms, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has taken the lead in the investigation. Federal agents are working alongside local law enforcement to track down those responsible.
The case remains active, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward. More updates are expected as investigators piece together how the robbery was executed and where the suspects may have gone.
