Waco Teen Arrested After Robbing Store With Pellet Gun, Caught With Cash Nearby

A 17-year-old Waco teenager is behind bars after police say he robbed a local business on LaSalle Avenue using what turned out to be a pellet gun — and was caught just streets away with the stolen cash still on him.

What Happened

Waco police were called to the 1700 block of LaSalle Avenue on April 30 after reports of an aggravated robbery at a local store. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the store manager was working in the back when he heard a noise from the front of the store.

When the manager came out to check, he saw a teenager walking toward the exit — and quickly realized cash was missing from the register.

Manager Followed the Suspect

The manager followed the teenager outside toward the area of Oliver Brothers Transmissions, recording video on his phone the entire time. That is when the suspect reached into his waistband and pulled out what appeared to be a black Glock-style pistol.

The manager immediately stopped following the suspect and called police.

Quick Arrest

Officers responded quickly and located the suspect just a few streets away. He was arrested on the spot, and police recovered money believed to have been taken from the store.

The suspect was identified as Jordan Javon Jones, 17. He was booked into McLennan County Jail on April 30 with bond set at $25,000. Jones faces a charge of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.

Pellet Gun, Not Real Firearm

Investigators later determined the weapon Jones displayed during the robbery was not a real handgun — it was a pellet gun. However, under Texas law, displaying any object that appears to be a deadly weapon during a robbery still qualifies as aggravated robbery.

Jones remains in McLennan County Jail as of this report.
