Tacoma Teen Charged After Shooting Outside Capitol Hill Nightclub, Bail Set at $1.5 Million

SEATTLE — An 18-year-old Tacoma man is facing multiple charges after a shooting outside a Capitol Hill nightclub left three people injured early last week.

According to prosecutors, Ja’Mari McQueen was involved in an argument with another man outside the Cultura nightclub around closing time. Investigators say the confrontation escalated and gunfire broke out near a crowded area as people were leaving the venue.

Authorities said the intended target was struck during the shooting, but two additional bystanders were also hit by bullets. All three victims survived, though officials described some of the injuries as serious.

Prosecutors argued in court that McQueen poses a danger to the community, pointing to the number of people injured during the incident and the public setting where the shooting occurred. A judge set bail at $1.5 million.

“This type of violence in a busy nightlife area puts many lives at risk,” prosecutors said during the hearing.

Court documents state that detectives reviewed surveillance footage and witness statements while investigating the shooting. Police responded to the scene shortly after reports of gunfire near the nightclub.

McQueen remains in custody and is expected to return to court on June 1, where he is scheduled to enter a plea.

The investigation remains ongoing.
