JOLIET, Illinois — A 17-year-old is fighting for his life after being stabbed inside a Joliet apartment complex Sunday afternoon, and investigators are now questioning a juvenile in connection with the attack.

Joliet Police Department officers responded around 12:55 p.m. to Riverwalk Homes Apartments at 366 N. Broadway after reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found the teen on the fifth floor with a serious stab wound.

Emergency crews transported him to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Juvenile Detained at the Scene

Officers quickly secured the area and began canvassing for evidence and witnesses.

A male juvenile was detained as a person of interest and transported to the Joliet Police Department for questioning. Authorities also confirmed that a knife was recovered at the scene.

No charges have been announced as of Sunday afternoon, and no additional information about suspects has been released.
