A quiet Thursday evening turned chaotic in Minneapolis after three separate shootings erupted within a 20-minute window, leaving multiple victims injured and police scrambling across different parts of the city.
Authorities say the incidents do not appear to be connected — but the rapid succession has raised concerns among residents.
First Shooting: Altercation Turns Violent
The first gunfire was reported at approximately 6:29 p.m. inside a residence on the 400 block of Taylor Street Northeast.
Police say what began as an altercation between two men escalated into gunfire. One victim sustained potentially life-threatening injuries and was rushed for medical treatment.
As of now, officers are still searching for the suspected shooter.
Second Shooting: Man Targeted While Walking
Just seven minutes later, at around 6:36 p.m., gunfire broke out again — this time roughly 2.5 miles away on the 2000 block of West River Road North.
According to investigators, a man was walking outside when shots were fired. Fortunately, his injuries were reported as non-life threatening.
Police later conducted a traffic stop about a mile northwest of the scene shortly before 3 a.m. Friday, leading to the arrest of three suspects aged 18, 21, and 22. They are expected to face possible weapons charges.
Third Shooting: Witness Reports Rapid Gunfire
At 6:46 p.m., a third shooting was reported on the 800 block of Franklin Avenue East — less than five miles from the first scene.
A woman suffered at least one non-life threatening gunshot wound while outside.
A nearby witness described a frightening moment:
A car stopped, multiple gunshots rang out — at least ten rounds — and the vehicle quickly sped away.
The scene left residents shaken, with many describing the rapid gunfire as intense and alarming.
Police: Incidents Appear Unrelated
Investigators currently believe the three shootings are separate incidents and not linked to one another. Each case remains under active investigation.
Crime Trends Context
Interestingly, city data prior to Thursday showed 20 gunshot victims recorded so far this year — 12 of them within the past 28 days — marking a decline compared to the same time last year.
While overall numbers may show improvement, Thursday night’s back-to-back shootings highlight how quickly situations can escalate and how unpredictable urban violence can be.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incidents to come forward as investigations continue.
