A 67-year-old Florida security guard tried to murder his wife in multiple ways — and would have succeeded if not for one error: he forgot to load his gun.
“Today, you are going to die.” — Fael Francois, per arrest affidavit
Fael Francois of Miami is now facing attempted murder charges after a terrifying Friday night assault on his wife at their home in the 1100 block of NW 114th Street.
What happened
According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim was asleep when Francois grabbed a pillow and attempted to smother her. When she broke free, he grabbed her arms and slapped her repeatedly.
She managed to escape again and called her sister. That’s when Francois grabbed his gun, pointed it directly at her head, and pulled the trigger.
The gun did not fire. There was no round in the chamber — and no magazine inserted.
“Oh s—, it’s not working.” — Francois, per police report
He then struck her with an unknown object, leaving a laceration on her left arm. The victim fled the home and hid behind a shed while calling 911.
Charges filed

Officers arrested Francois at the scene. He denied all allegations. As of Monday, he remains in Miami-Dade County Jail with no bond and no court date listed.
