Tragic Multi-Vehicle Crash in Cecil Township Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

A devastating multi-vehicle crash in Cecil Township claimed the life of one person Sunday night and sent two others to the hospital, leaving the local community shaken.

The accident occurred around 8 p.m. along Route 980, prompting an immediate response from local police and emergency crews. Authorities confirmed that multiple vehicles were involved in the collision, creating a serious and complex scene for first responders.

Emergency dispatchers reported that one individual was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Their current conditions have not yet been made public.

Firefighters from Cecil Township Volunteer Fire Company #3, along with township police, worked diligently to manage the situation, assist victims, and secure the area. Due to the severity of the crash, Route 980 was temporarily shut down between O’Hare Road and Route 50 to allow emergency crews to operate safely.

Officials warned that the roadway would remain closed for an extended period as investigators examined the scene and crews cleared debris. The road has since reopened to traffic.
