A Florida Man Is in Jail After Slamming His 11-Year-Old Niece’s Head Into a Wall — All Over a Scooter.
A Miami man is facing child abuse charges after police say he grabbed his 11-year-old niece and repeatedly slammed her head into a wall — and it all started over a scooter.
What Happened?
Aaron D. Culpepper, 32, was arrested Thursday after officers were flagged down by the young girl herself, who was crying uncontrollably near Northwest 67th Street in Miami.
The argument started small. The girl took her cousin’s scooter after her cousin took her shoe. But when the cousin told Culpepper about it, things turned violent fast.
According to police, Culpepper grabbed the girl by her shirt, gripped her face, and repeatedly banged her head against the wall.
An officer noted a visible bump on the back of her head. Miami Fire Rescue evaluated her on the scene, and she was later taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
What Did Culpepper Say?
After being read his Miranda rights, Culpepper denied slamming his niece’s head into the wall.
His own mother, however, told police something different — saying “all he did was jack her up.”
Where Is He Now?
Culpepper was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Thursday. As of Friday, his bond was set at $5,000.
He faces one count of child abuse without great bodily harm.
Police say surveillance footage of the incident may exist, though it was not immediately available.
This incident occurred in Miami, Florida.
