CHICAGO, Illinois — A 31-year-old man is dead after falling from a bridge in Chicago’s Loop on Sunday evening, according to police.

The incident was reported at approximately 6:55 p.m. near East Jackson Boulevard and South Michigan Avenue — one of the city’s busiest intersections, just steps from Millennium Park.

Chicago police officers rushed to the scene to assist EMS personnel after receiving reports of a man down near the bridge. When first responders arrived, the man was found unresponsive.

Man Rushed to Hospital, Later Pronounced Dead

The 31-year-old was immediately transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Despite efforts by medical staff, he did not survive. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police have not released the man’s identity at this time.

Detectives Now Leading the Investigation

Area Three Detectives have taken over the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall.

No further details have been released by police, and it remains unclear whether the fall was accidental or intentional.
