Not Gonna Stop for No Train' — Florida Bus Driver Charged After Train Clips Bus Full of Kids

A Florida school bus driver is now behind bars after making a decision that nearly cost 29 middle schoolers their lives — and her own words caught on video may be what seals her fate.

Yvonne Hampton, 67, allegedly ignored an active railroad crossing signal in Bushnell, Florida, and drove her bus directly into the path of an oncoming train. As the warning lights flashed, Hampton could be heard saying “Not gonna stop for no train” — just seconds before the train clipped the back of the bus.

All 29 students onboard began screaming as the train approached. One student was heard yelling “There is a train coming!” before the impact sent the bus lurching sideways.

Hampton now faces 29 counts of child neglect, culpable negligence, and reckless driving. She is currently in Sumter County Jail without bond.

The Sumter County School District Superintendent called it a near-catastrophe — saying just 6 inches stood between a routine school ride and an unthinkable tragedy.

What the students experienced in those terrifying seconds — and what the video evidence revealed about Hampton’s decision — is something no parent should have to hear.
